The way I feel when I walk into a library/bookstore/my room

Because yes, my room can be included in that list...

Bookstores and libraries are probably my favorite places on Earth. When I walk into one I just feel like I'm home, I can feel myself relaxing and I'm just happy. Anyone who doesn't see how magical these place are...let me explain.

When I walk into a bookstore I don't see a place filled with lots of paper and words etc. I see a giant collection of doors to amazing and fascinating places, any of which I can open and step into if I feel like it. You know those doors you sometimes see in movies, that just stand there and you can walk all around it and it doesn't seem to lead anywhere. Until you open it that is. Then, all of a sudden you can step through and into a whole different place. That's exactly how I see books, and that is why bookstores and libraries are magical.

As to my room it's basically the same thing, only in here I know most of the places behind the doors, some extremely well, others not so much, but I can revisit my favorites, or choose not to if I didn't like where they go.

There is some element of danger to walking through these doors though. You might get addicted to 'book travelling' (yep, I just made that up), or you may find something in those pages that could change your life, or your outlook on life.

That's just something I've always wanted to explain...so yeah.... :D

The Best Book and Movie I Read/Watched in 2013

I saw the Thousander Club (another blog about books) did a post about the best books they read this year, and I decided I'll do the same. Only I'm going to try to choose one movie and one book. These may not have been published/released in 2013, but I read/watched them this year.

The Book:
Not a very easy decision. Thank goodness for goodreads, so I can see everything I've read! But my favorite book I read in 2013 is: Thr3e by Ted Dekker. As I was scrolling down my 'read' list I found myself looking for this book. It's kind of strange that my favorite should be a thriller, since I used to dislike them, but this book and the others by Dekker completely changed my opinion on that. Truly an eye-opener that I will definitely recommend and that changes your perspective on people completely.

The Movie:
Easiest decision ever, I've never loved a movie like I love this one: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. This movie is life-changing and every time I watch it it touches me and makes me feel so many emotions that I can't even describe. This is the first movie I can call my absolute favorite, and I'll always love it. You can also go read the post I have on my other blog about how this movie makes me feel...

Why I Love Books!

 

This is not going to be a review, just so you know. So many people have asked me this question, but they always want a one sentence version and I can’t do that. So if you don’t care why I think books are wonderful, don’t read this, I won’t mind. Also this is going to be VERY serious (I think). So here are the main reasons for my obsession:

1.    I feel safe around books. People have always made me slightly nervous (some are downright scary ;P), and I prefer reading to talking. Books are my friends, they don’t change, their very rarely mean (except those horrible ones with those terrible endings) to the reader (a.k.a me) and they're always there. Those that I don’t like I simply get rid of, as easy as that. This may sound strange, but it’s the way I feel. (I’m not completely socially challenged, by the way. I do have human friends as well :P)

2.       When I look at books I don’t see them as paper with words that I have to read. I see them as doors to different worlds and different stories than my own. Every one of them leads to a different country or place where anything is possible. They are a way of escaping the normality of my life and entering a whole new world (♪A whole new world, a dazzling place I never knew…♪ :P)

3.       Reading is like a drug to me. It’s addictive, it makes me feel happy while I’m doing it, and it makes me forget the world for a while. Except it’s not damaging to my health. So who wouldn’t want that, right? RIGHT? :D

So there you have it, the reason I love books! Of course there are tons more, like the fact that there are books about absolutely anything, and the fact that it has improved my use of language, but those are the main ones :D.

Hello, and welcome to my blog! And I really don’t know why I started this post so lamely. Okay so here’s the deal. I'm a nerd and I know it (and I'm proud of it heehee). I love books, I’m obsessed with books. Books are my passion, my favorite pastime is reading and I can get lost in bookstore or library for a whole day. I cannot emphasize my love for books enough, but I’m going to try to keep it short and sweet. I also really like movies, so I will review those as well, just because I can! Now I am not going to limit my reviews to certain genres/age groups and I probably won’t review all the latest books and movies. I will review every book and movie I read and watch as I go along. So you will find everything from Twilight (yes Twihards, I will dedicate a tiny space of my blog to you sometime in the near future) to Jane Austen to Nancy Drew to Jeffrey Archer to I don’t know, anything, on here. Since I love reading, I have had a lot of practice, so I’m pretty fast, so I will probably be uploading quickly, depending of course on the length of the book etc. The movies, I’ll review as I watch them, so it depends on my schedule and when I have time to watch. My reviews will not have any spoilers as far as possible. I will not be telling you the story of the books or movies. I will simply be giving my opinion on the plot, the characters and so forth. I will provide a summary, either from the Internet or the back cover of the book/DVD if possible. I will also give suggestions as to who should read this, as well as my opinion on the appropriate age for both the movies and the books. Most of this is probably going to be my personal opinion, but I will try to give both the good and the bad on everything I review. Any suggestions on what I should review, what info you would like, or anything really is very welcome, as well as CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. So now this post is getting way too long and if you read it this far you’re probably going ‘okay we get it’ so…one last thing. I love books! :D
